the world are alike, and encourage them to celebrate
the differences of people from different geographical regions.
It is important for children and young adults to learn
about and respect other cultures as the demographics of North
America is changing daily.
Activities that encourage social awareness of other cultures using food:
- Have students bring in menus from restaurants in their neighborhoods
- Note the differences in dishes served
- Analyze why certain ingredients are used by that particular culture
- Allow students to bring in traditional family recipes
- Cook as a class
- Have a celebration of cultures.
